3 TIP TO STAY CONSISTENT

Last week we discussed 3 tips for New Year Resolutioners wanting to improve their health and fitness.

One of the biggest issues people have with consistency is the lack of accountability. If you skip your gym sessions, no one is asking why or holding you accountable. I am not excluded from this list either. When I started my fitness journey I didn’t enjoy going to the gym, and was forced to go by a close friend. Almost 10 years later, it is a different story, but here are 3 tips on how I became consistent and I know it will help you.

Here are 3 tips you can implement to start being consistent and start holding yourself accountable.

1) Get a Work Out Partner

My best friend used to FORCE me to the gym. Believe it or not, I did not enjoy going to the gym. It was painful, boring, and I dreaded it. Having a work out partner is a great idea because it allows you to stay ACCOUNTABLE. You have someone pushing you or forcing you to go even when you do not feel like it. It is also more enjoyable because you will have company in an environment a lot of people find intimidating. This is a great opportunity to learn more about exercise and make it more enjoyable. So pick up your phone, and find a work out partner NOW!

2) Track Your Work Outs

A lot of people go to the gym with no game plan, and that is one of the biggest mistakes I see. It’s harder to get a good workout if you do not what you are going to be doing. It is especially harder to improvise when you do not know many exercises. For this reason, get a game plan! Find a program online, or contact me for a personalized plan. This will help you stay motivated because you will have numbers to beat, and this is how you will make progress. Getting stronger or being able to do more reps in certain exercises will have you feeling motivated! You should be challenging yourself each week to do more weight, reps, or time!

3) Write Down a Time & Date

If you know exactly when you are going to go to the gym, it will improve your likeliness to go. I personally recommend keeping your workout times around the same time. For example, I’ve been doing 2 PM and my body had adjusted to that time to exercise. Staying consistent with your times can help you build the habit to go. Nothing better than looking at the clock and knowing it is time to work out. This is a great way to start getting mentally ready for your workouts. Not to mention, knowing what time you are going to the gym allows you to strategically fuel your body with food.

Here are the 3 tips to keep you consistent! In order to improve or maintain your level of fitness you need to stay consistent. These 3 tips will allow you to stay accountable and increase the chances of success. Which tip is your favorite?
